To start talking about racial discrimination to the foreigners in Chile, who had mostly come from Haiti, Peru and Colombia, we must talk about the reality of the country.
I have friends that are teachers and they have told me that, at least, the half of their students are foreigners. That show us that the number of immigrants is increasing day by day in our county and I think that the issue of discrimination is given more by subject of the socio-cultural status of somebody than by where this person comes from, I mean that when the cultural legacy of somebody is higher than the common people, they often discriminate against you. Just knowing more than others, or having a different way of thinking is enough for being discriminated.
It is difficult to socialize with ignorant people, with people who think that brute force predominates more than the mind, and unfortunately the money society is like that. If you do not have studies, you are a worker, a cheap labor for business owners with a high social status, and they discriminate against you because of that.
To have less culture than another person should not affect in social treatment, but if it does.
But there is also another type of discrimination, the economic discrimination. There are many people who discriminate the other only because they are poor, the wealthy people discriminate against the poor people. The rich discriminate against the poor, the thin people discriminate against the fat, and the poor discriminate against the rich.
There is no acceptance in people when the neighbor is very different, this discrimination comes from our ancestors indians. When humanity had tribes instead of society, they met either because of their physical similarity or similar thinking.
Without a doubt discrimination is a setback in humanity, only leads us to form tribes, to disunity, leads us to war between us. I do not stop thinking that the issue of discrimination is a strategy of the powerful to keep the people in a constant war, thus keeping us busy killing each other, not thinking that we really must kill discrimination.
